Is Your 307cc Roof Ready For Winter?

Winterise Your Peugeot 307cc Folding Roof

As the shorter days roll in we are all used to preparing our cars for winter, from topping up our coolant to perhaps even fitting winter tyres, but have you given much thought to your electric folding roof?

Keeping your 307cc Cabriolet roof system well maintained this winter will help prolong its life and reduce the risk of a roof failure.  Here are our top five tips for maintaining your Peugeot 307cc folding roof this winter.

1.  Hydraulic Pump Fluid Level

Low hydraulic pump fluid level can cause malfunctions of the folding roof system in addition to causing premature wear on parts, ingress of moisture leading to corrosion and a lack of hydraulic pressure..  It can also cause the seals drying out, leading to system leaks.  The hydraulic pump for the roof is located in the rear of the boot, on the right hand side, underneath the plastic trim that surrounds the spare wheel.

Check the fluid level in between the MIN and MAX marks on the plastic fluid tank attached to the pump unit, and top up if needed with a Mineral based LHF.

2.  Lubricate Moving Parts

The powered folding roof contains numerous moving parts that will require lubrication from time to time, including locks and hinged points.

Lubricate moving parts with a good quality silicon grease, ensuring you wipe away any excess.

3.  Lubricate Seals and Weather Strips

It is important to keep all seals, window guides and weather strips free from dirt and also lubricated to prevent them drying out, causing them to leak, or in some instances cause the roof to be stuck closed!

Clean and lubricate all roof and window rubber seals and weather strips with a good quality Silicon spray, being sure to wipe off any excess.

4.  Operate the Folding Roof

The manufacturer recommends that the electric powered folding roof should be operated at least every 2 months to keep the system well lubricated and free from air.  It is important to adhere to this advice, especially during winter months when you may be less likely to naturally cycle the roof system.  You should pay attention to Tip #5 below when operating the roof in the winter months.

5.  Do NOT Operate the Folding Roof

To prevent possible system failure or possible damage to the folding roof system, the manufacturer states that you SHOULD NOT OPERATE THE ROOF SYSTEM WHEN OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE IS LESS THAT 2 DEGREES CENTIGRADE

Peugeot 307 WRC is a rally car which competed in the World Rally Championship for only two seasons (2004, 2005) as a factory entry, scoring three WRC wins. The rally version of the Peugeot 307 CC was extensively modified. A retractable hard top has been welded and fixed, to accommodate a safety roll cage inside a car. The 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo engine, which produced 180 hp in a road-legal car, was pumped up to 300 hp.
